Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell
I adored this book. After all of the hype, I was expecting something that was going to absolutely break me. It definitely hit the emotions, but nothing major.
I love these characters, especially Eleanor. Despite her family life, she tries her damnedest to be normal. She’s extremely self-conscious, and doesn’t think she’s worthy of love. I don’t blame her at all. She has a tough life. I like Park too. He’s trying to figure out where he fits in. He isn’t popular, but fears any kind of friendship with Eleanor will push him further down the popularity chain.
Sometimes things aren’t like they seem. Park and Eleanor don’t completely understand each other’s family life. I love how they both grow despite everything working against them. There were a few characters that I wished I could physically hurt. Downright despicable, and had me fuming.
I really enjoyed this book, and can’t wait to read more by Rainbow Rowell.
