This whole discussion came about because the hubs accused me of being a book snob. And while I admit I do sometimes judge a book by it’s cover I don’t think it makes me a book snob. Even if I don’t care for the cover and the synopsis pulls me in, I’ll read it. But there have also been times that I’ve bought a book based solely on the cover and have no clue what the book is even about. It happens. I’m drawn to pretty things. He also claims I’m a snob because I don’t read certain books. It’s not so much certain books, but when someone I trust tells me that I won’t like a book, I’m not going to read it. Even if it has made me curious. I don’t want to read something I won’t like, and the bestie knows me well enough to not let me pick up a book she knows I’ll end up throwing against the wall, or in the trash. (Just kidding, I wouldn’t do that.) But I would bitch about spending money on something I hated, and pass it along to someone who may enjoy it more. But back to the point. I told him I read pretty much everything. He knows this. He’s built the shelves for my books, and sees them every day. There’s a range of books on there from YA to adult, romance, and classics. I don’t think anyone is a book snob unless you look down on people for reading things other than what you read. That isn’t okay. Read whatever floats your boat, whether that be a book with an awful cover, or the sexy book you read on your ereader so that nobody knows what you’re reading.
