I have serious love for this book. You go in expecting the beginnings of a summer romance, but come out with so much more. Amber is a great character. She takes everything in stride, but still doesn't know what she wants to do with her life. It doesn't help that she has parents that criticize her every chance they get. She falls into the roll of being an English teacher, and caretaker, of two Italian children. She doesn't think she's qualified, but wants to prove herself wrong. The relationship she has with the children is amazing. The way she interacts with them, and shows them that they don't have to be buried in their emotions is beautiful. I also love her relationship with Derio. It starts off rough, but I love that they bring out the best in each other. They are able to get over their own fears with the other by their side. They are passion, lust, and love all rolled into one. Such an amazing romance. The pacing is great. The romance is a mixture of fast and slow. While the time doesn't feel like it's very long, you can feel the slow build up. I think that has a lot to do with this book being set in Italy. Things are carefree, and done without hurry. I think the love of Amber and Derio shows that perfectly. Like I said you get an amazing romance, but you also get a wonderful journey of self-discovery. Amber learns so much about herself while in Italy, and I think that makes her a stronger character, and person.
