Eeny Meeny will have you gripping the edge of your seat. It's dark, twisted, and full of surprises.
I couldn't stop reading this book. I had to know what was going to happen next, who the next set of victims would be, and how they were being chosen. Just when you think you might have things figured out, something else happens to make you question everything.
Eeny Meeny is told in a few point of views. We have Helen who is the lead detective, Charlie & Mark officers she has on her task team, and the person behind the disappearances. There are also the voices of those that have been put in the life or death choice as well. Helen is trying to do her job, but the things that have happened to the survivors of the abductions are terrifying, and she can't figure out how they connect.
I couldn't imagine being in the shoes of the victims and deciding if my life was more important than theirs. Each person has their own thoughts to battle, and in the end a choice has to be made. Each survivor is trying to deal with their emotions from the choice they made.
Helen is also going a bit crazy trying to work this case. Things happen within her department, and there are big scandals that have to be figured out. She doesn't allow herself a personal life, and constantly beats herself up, in a rather unusual way, to deal with the stress her co-workers, the families, and herself weigh her down with. I want to know more about her character, and see how she copes with the events in this book.
When the time comes to face the suspect things are tense. I loved that this book kept me guessing, and I'm ready for more in this series.
